Infinite Potential, The New School, Senegal
February 2023 – June 2023
Project Overview:
The Kaira Looro international architecture competition centered on designing a primary school in Senegal. Participants navigated significant challenges related to materials, labor, space, and energy. The project aimed to create a sustainable and functional educational space that aligned with the competition’s thematic constraints.
My Contribution:
In collaboration with two Stanford peers, I played a pivotal role in translating our conceptualized school design into a detailed three-dimensional model in SketchUp. As the lead, I oversaw the intricate rendering process, ensuring a visually compelling representation in Revit. Embracing sustainability, I focused on optimizing space requirements, incorporating passive ventilation and lighting strategies to create comfortable classrooms without electricity. Our design underwent an iterative process, refining solutions to address evolving challenges. I compiled comprehensive reports and presented our design rationale and solutions to the competition judges. This experience significantly enhanced my skills in design implementation and deepened my understanding of balancing constraints and functions in architectural endeavors.
